Youssofzay and Hart were commissioned by the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne to design a site-responsive exhibition for Photo 2021 International festival of Photography. Curated by Isobel Parker Philip, the outdoor exhibition titled Garden Variety: Photography, Politics and the Picturesque showcased the work of six contemporary artists within the grounds of the garden. For this exhibition Y+H worked very closely with the curator, the artists and the Gardens to carefully site the works through a series of custom designed armatures that weave through the natural and architectural features of the seven sites across the Gardens. The armatures were designed to hold the photographic works in composition with empty frames that enlisted the surrounds as part of the presentation.
